RESUMO As Áreas de Preservação Permanente (APP), instituídas pelo Código Florestal em 1965, representam elemento integrador e, conforme definido pelo Plano Nacional de Áreas Protegidas, devem ser consideradas no planejamento da paisagem com a função estratégica de conectar os fragmentos florestais. No entanto, a Lei de Proteção da Vegetação Nativa de 2012 alterou os parâmetros topográficos (altura, declividade e base das elevações) que definem as APP no topo de morros, o que ocasionou o quase desaparecimento deste tipo de APP no país. Por sua vez, para recuperar parte da área perdida, o Instituto Estadual do Ambiente (INEA) promulgou a Resolução 93 em 2014, que estabeleceu uma metodologia própria para a delimitação APP no topo de morros no estado do Rio de Janeiro. Como forma de analisar o arranjo espacial decorrente das alterações nos dispositivos legais, este estudo realizou a delimitação e calculou as métricas de paisagem das manchas de APP no topo de morros em quatro unidades geomorfológicas representativas no estado do Rio de Janeiro, tendo como base o Código Florestal de 1965, a Lei de Proteção da Vegetação Nativa de 2012 e Resolução INEA de 2014. Os mapeamentos foram realizados de modo automático através de Geoprocessamento e com uso de Modelo Digital de Terreno na escala 1:25.000. Os resultados mostraram que as alterações nos dispositivos legais acarretaram a redução da área (até 96%) e do número de manchas (até 95%) na APP no topo de morros, bem como o aumento da distância média (de 135 m para mais que 800 m) entre as manchas. Constatou-se que a distribuição das APP se mantém nas unidades geomorfológicas mapeadas de acordo com o Código de Florestal de 1965, contudo, nos demais dispositivos legais, os indicadores pioram nos terrenos menos acidentados. Conclui-se, assim, que a adoção da Lei de Proteção da Vegetação Nativa de 2012 implica em um cenário de paisagem fragmentada com quase desaparecimento das APP no topo de morros. Este cenário é amenizado pela Resolução INEA de 2014, que mantém parte expressiva das APP apenas na área de relevo mais acidentado, enquanto o Código Florestal de 1965 possui os melhores indicadores que expressam a extensão, a conectividade e o arranjo espacial nas unidades geomorfológicas estudadas. Dessa forma, a alteração dos dispositivos legais correspondeu a um cenário de maior fragmentação e menor conectividade estrutural entre as manchas de APP no topo de morros.

ABSTRACT The Permanent Preservation Areas (APP), established by the Forest Code in 1965, depict an integrating element of the landscape as defined by the National Plan of Protected Areas. However, the Native Vegetation Protection Law, approved in 2012, has produced several changes in the parameters for the delimitation of APP, especially in those that define APPs on hilltops. As a result, to recover part of the lost area, in 2014, the State Environmental Institute of Rio de Janeiro (INEA) published the Resolution 93, which established its own methodology of delimitation for the state. The goal of this study is to analyze the spatial distribution of the hilltop APP through mapping and calculating landscape metrics, based on legal provisions applied in four areas with different geomorphological units that represent most of the Rio de Janeiro’s relief, considering the Forest Code of 1965, the Native Vegetation Protection Law of 2012, and the INEA Resolution of 2014. APP mapping was done by spatial digital automatic mode and the use of a Digital Terrain Model at 1:25.000 scale. The results showed that the changes in the parameters that delimit the APP on hilltops resulted in a significant reduction of area (up to 85%) and number patches (up to 95%), as well as the increase of the average distance (from 135 m to > 800 m) between hilltop APP patches. It was observed that the distribution of APP is preserved in all geomorphological units mapped with the Forest Code of 1965, while in the other legal scenarios the indicators are worse, as the relief becomes less rugged. Thus, it can be concluded that the Native Vegetation Protection Law of 2012 leads to a fragmented landscape with the close extinction of the hilltop APP. The scenario is mitigated by Resolution 93, that preserves part of the APP only in the rugged relief, while the Forest Code of 1965 has the best indicators that represent the extension, connectivity and the spatial arrangement in the studied geomorphologic units. In this way, the changes on legal provisions represent a scenario of greater fragmentation and smaller structural connectivity between the hilltops.

Resumo: O presente trabalho investigou a composição de espécies arbóreas de Leguminosae presentes em florestas litorâneas, estabelecidas sobre solos litólicos ou planície arenosa, na porção Central e Leste do estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Foi realizado um estudo comparativo entre áreas de Floresta Atlântica no Sudeste brasileiro para avaliar a influência de variáveis ambientais nas diferenciações florísticas. Foram elencadas 34 áreas da Região Sudeste na plataforma NeoTropTree e tabuladas as espécies de Leguminosae dessas áreas para análise de similaridade. Foi utilizado o índice de similaridade de Jaccard e o método UPGMA para as análises de agrupamento. As relações entre a composição de espécies de Leguminosae e as variáveis ambientais foram investigadas através da análise de Correspondência Canônica (CCA). A análise de agrupamento mostrou que o conjunto de espécies de Leguminosae arbóreas dessa porção do litoral fluminense possui afinidade florística com as florestas estacionais, resultado igualmente corroborado pela CCA. Essa diferenciação florística é sustentada por um conjunto exclusivo de espécies de Leguminosae, estabelecidas nessas florestas sobre solos litólicos ou planície arenosa e sinaliza que a extensão de matas secas no estado do Rio de Janeiro pode ser maior que o apresentado atualmente. Este resultado justifica ações diferenciadas em termos de conservação, tendo em vista a singularidade florística apresentada por estas áreas.

Abstract: This study investigated the current Leguminosae tree species composition in coastal forests over lithosoil soil or sandy plains in the eastern and central portion of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. A comparative study between the Atlantic Forest areas of the Southeast Region of Brazil was conducted to evaluate the influence of environmental variables on floristic differentiation. A total of 34 areas of the Southeast Region was selected from the NeoTropTree platform and the Leguminosae species in these areas were the basis for a similarity analysis. The Jaccard Similarity Index and the UPGMA method were applied for grouping analysis. The relationships between the Leguminosae species composition and the environmental variables were investigated via Cannonical Correspondance Analysis (CCA). The cluster analysis showed that the Leguminosae tree species group of this portion of Rio de Janeiro coastline share floristic affinity with seasonal forests, a result confirmed by CCA. This floristic differentiation is sustained by an exclusive group of Leguminosae species established over lithosoils or sandy plains, and signals that the extent of dry forests in Rio de Janeiro state might be larger than currently stated. The results justify distinct conservation actions in view of the floristic singularities of these areas.

RESUMO A fragmentação florestal é um processo em que áreas contínuas de vegetação natural são subdivididas em manchas de tamanhos diversos, originado por atividades antrópicas ou causas naturais associadas a mudanças ambientais e eventos de grande magnitude. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo caracterizar e analisar a dinâmica da fragmentação florestal e a vulnerabilidade das manchas de distúrbios resultantes de deslizamentos ocasionados por chuvas intensas na região serrana do estado do Rio de Janeiro em 2011. Para tanto foi realizada uma avaliação do padrão espacial das manchas antes e após os eventos por meio de índices métricos de paisagem, estimados a partir de mapas de cobertura da terra e das cicatrizes dos deslizamentos, produzidos através da análise de imagens orbitais. Houve uma redução de 6% da área de floresta e um acréscimo de 107% no número de fragmentos, principalmente de pequenos. Ocorreu uma perda de 17% da área nuclear, um acréscimo de 43% do número de núcleos e de 28% da densidade de borda. A distância média do fragmento mais próximo diminuiu 46%, em virtude da forma das cicatrizes, alongadas e estreitas. Os resultados mostram que os deslizamentos ocasionaram uma intensificação do processo histórico de fragmentação florestal, promovendo um aumento da vulnerabilidade e instabilidade ecológica dos remanescentes florestais, evidenciando como eventos naturais de grande magnitude podem alterar rapidamente a paisagem.

ABSTRACT Forest fragmentation is a process in which continuous natural vegetation areas are divided into patches of different sizes, originated by human activities or natural causes associated with environmental changes and high magnitude events. This work aims to characterize and to analyze the dynamics of forest fragmentation and the vulnerability of disturbance patches resulting from landslides, originated by heavy rainfall events that occurred in the mountain ranges of Rio de Janeiro state in the year 2011. The fragmentation pattern before and after the events was evaluated by the use of landscape metric indexes, extracted from land cover and landslide scars maps made by the analysis of satellite images. The indexes show a 6% reduction of the forest area and an increase of 107% in the number of forest patches, especially of small ones. A loss of 17% of forest core area and an increase of 43% in the number of forest cores and of 28% of edge density has occurred. The distance from the nearest neighbor decreased 46% due to the narrow and elongated shape of landslide scars. The overall results show that the rainfall events have caused an intensification of the historical process of forest fragmentation, promoting an increase of the ecological vulnerability and instability of the forest remnants, highlighting how high magnitude natural events can cause rapid landscape changes.

RESUMO A região de Cabo Frio é reconhecida como um importante centro de diversidade vegetal (CDVCF) da Região Neotropical, devido à presença de diversos taxa endêmicos e comunidades vegetais singulares, o que pode ser relacionado tanto ao clima relativamente seco quanto à heterogeneidade do ambiente físico. Embora diversos estudos realizados na região tenham produzido informações importantes sobre a estrutura e composição florística de algumas comunidades vegetais, existe ainda uma considerável lacuna na classificação e definição dos tipos de vegetação bem como de sua distribuição espacial. Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar e descrever os tipos de vegetação da região e sua relação com o ambiente físico, através do mapeamento da cobertura vegetal e uso do solo, baseado na análise integrada de imagens de satélite, fotografias aéreas, mapas temáticos e dados pontuais provenientes de levantamentos estruturais e florísticos e trabalhos de campo, com apoio do processamento digital de imagens e de sistema de informações geográficas. Os resultados são apresentados acompanhados de um mapa da vegetação e uso do solo da área do CDVCF, que poderá ser utilizado como base para novos estudos florísticos e ecológicos, para estudos da dinâmica da paisagem e para apoio ao planejamento ambiental e a conservação da biodiversidade da região.

ABSTRACT The Cabo Frio region has been nominated an important Centre of Plant Diversity of the Neotropical Region due to the presence of several endemic taxa and unique plant communities, which are related to both a dry climate and a heterogeneous physical environment. Although previous studies have provided important floristic and structural information on vegetation types, there is still considerable uncertainty about the spatial distribution, extent and variation in vegetation cover, as well as the classification and definition of these types. This work aims to provide an analysis of the region's vegetation and its relationship to the physical environment, through vegetation and land cover mapping, based on an integrated analysis of satellite images and aerial photographs, thematic maps, point data from previous floristic and structural surveys and field work, supported by digital image processing and geographic information system software. These results are accompanied by a vegetation and land cover map of the entire area, thus providing a basis for further ecological studies, conservation and land use planning and monitoring and landscape dynamics analyses.

RESUMO O município de Armação dos Búzios, que faz parte do Centro de Diversidade Vegetal de Cabo Frio, é caracterizado por uma grande variação de fisionomias vegetais, relacionadas à sua fisiografia e ao clima da região. Nos últimos quarenta anos o crescimento urbano vem reduzindo e fragmentando a sua cobertura vegetal natural. O objetivo deste estudo é fornecer informações sobre a extensão, distribuição e estado de conservação dos remanescentes de vegetação natural do município, através da elaboração de um mapa de vegetação e uso do solo, baseado na interpretação de fotografias aéreas, com o auxílio de mapas temáticos (geologia, solo e relevo) digitais, e trabalhos de campo, com coleta de material botânico, posteriormente identificado em herbário.

ABSTRACT Armação dos Búzios Municipality, which is part of the Cabo Frio Center of Plant Diversity, is characterized by a variety of vegetation physiognomies, related to the physical environment and climate. In the last forty years, rapid urban growth has reduced and fragmented the vegetation cover. This work aims to map the extension, distribution and conservation state of the remaining vegetation cover and land use of Armação dos Búzios, based on interpretation of aerial photographs, aided by digital thematic (geology, soil and relief) maps and field work, with collected plant samples identified in the herbarium.
